How to calculate cost per booked job

Cost per lead tells you what a phone call costs. Cost per booked job tells you what a customer costs. The formula:

Cost per booked job = cost per lead ÷ close rate

Close rate is jobs booked ÷ leads, as a decimal (25% = 0.25). Then divide cost per booked job by your average job value to see what share of revenue goes to buying that job.

Worked examples (lead prices cited; close rates are illustrative inputs, use your own)

  • Roofing on Google LSA: at the published median of $114.57 (99 Calls LSA Cost Estimator (Oct 2026, checked 2026-10-19)) and an example 25% close rate, cost per booked job = $114.57 ÷ 0.25 = $458.
  • Remodeling on Google LSA: at the published median of $102.56 (99 Calls LSA Cost Estimator (Oct 2026 (last 12 mo), checked 2026-10-19)) and an example 20% close rate: $102.56 ÷ 0.20 = $513.
  • Water damage on Google Ads: at the 2026 median of $637 (99 Calls Google Ads benchmarks (Jan–Sep 2026, checked 2026-10-19)) and an example 30% close rate: $637 ÷ 0.30 = $2,123.

Why shared leads change the math

Angi says each request is matched with no more than five pros, so your close rate on shared leads is usually lower than on exclusive ones. A cheap shared lead can cost more per booked job than a pricier exclusive one. Run both through the formula.
